    Default Homemade Dehydrated Meals

So instead of buying mountain house or another freeze dried backpack meal I was thinking on trying to dehydrate my own at home. Was thinking on trying something simple at first, weight before dehydrating then weigh again, add the difference in water back to it and heat. If it works I think this would be a lot better then buying the packages of premade ones from other places and you could make your own healthy meals. Has anyone done this and if so how did it turn out?

Check this site out. I have not personally tried any yet but plan to soon.

"If it works...." why would a million year old method of preserving food not work?

Been doing it for a few years since I stopped eating soy and most types of carbs due to health issues. There are all kinds of blogs and sites with info. This is a good resource for getting started.

Been doing it for years - works great, except don't try dehydrating shrimp - they come back like little erasers.
