Default Kings in Homer, Halibut in Lower Cook inlet

I usually wait until Mid September to hit Homer, but given the weather conditions my son and I hit Homer. On Friday we manage 6 takedowns landing 3 kings. On saturday on a short 2 hour trip, we only had one takedown but couldn't make it stick. We used green label herring and found the fish shallow in about 30 ft of water.

Sunday we try Whiskey Gulch. We fished several hours in 45 to 55 feet of water only to land about a half dozen sub ten pounders. We moved closer into shore and in 30 feet of water, I manage my best halibut of the year, a 73 pounder by the weight length chart.

No, we hit Whiskey Gulch to look for halibut. But nwe were just about to switch over to trolling gear since we were so shallow.
