Can't see any damage. Maybe he anchored at high tide.

Maybe he was tired of waiting in line at the wash down station in Whittier.

...buuuuut he had to use his secondary anchor because his winch was frozen, preventing him from freeing his primary anchor from the bow roller.

Potbuilder has the best guess. Just a little scratched paint. Still made it out for today's opener. Very lucky it turned out the way it did

Happens. Our boat was run aground while working the Exxon Valdez oil spill back in '89. A bit of a scuff on the bottom and a picture noticed years later in a popular Sound book (thankfully they whited out the name!), and the boat was none the worse for the wear. I was but a lad at the time, but it's all part of the lore now.

buddy of mine piled his bowpicker on a rockpile at 28 knots its wasn't pretty. another guy fell asleep heading into whittier, ran right past the harbor and up the beach at the head of the bay.

When I took that picture last Monday I was impresses by the effort and shoring in place to keep the boat from tipping over. Glad to hear all turned out well.

He is just checking his bottom paint and he didn't want to pay to use the dry dock at the harbor.

I know he was worried about it rolling off. Sounds like it was sitting about as good as it could have been on there
