Thread: Whittier boat wash station etiquette?

Default Whittier boat wash station etiquette?

Does anyone else have issues with people taking way too long. Some people unload, take potty breaks, go get coffee, wash and wax their boats and then drive it to the tunnel! I understand the 15 minute limit may be a bit short sometimes but everyone has to catch a tunnel and some people can't or don't haul their boats home every weekend so they don't have that opportunity to thoroughly clean at home. Just curious if there's a way we can make this awesome privilege better and more efficient.

I don't have any way to "mandate" improvements, but I sympathize with your observations. I too leave my boat in the parking lot for the season, so it's critical that I at least flush the I/O prior to parking it after a trip. I usually try to hit the ramp at "off times", but that isn't always possible. I sometimes will wash the boat if nobody is waiting, but I'll vacate ASAP if someone is in line behind me. I also will sometimes engage in "friendly, idle chatter" with someone on the wash station ahead of me to let them get the hint that I'm waiting. Managing time at the wash rack all comes down to personal courtesy, but that seems to be in short supply in today's society.

Ha! That may work if there is enough water pressure! Whittier should just punch a road through one of the waterfalls.
