    Default Something to Consider

I camped this last weekend with my son on the Fox Island sand spit and witnessed what could have been a very bad situation. An aluminum skiff 18' or so, had nosed into the beach for a quick break. While away from the boat, a large cruise ship went through the narrows and caused a large wake that proceded to crash over his splash well and transom. It wasn't just one wave but several. They managed to bail & bilge the water out and re-float it, but Wow, what a sight. It's something I'll always consider now that I have seen it.

Been out of Valdez in a 30' cruiser and again in a 22' jetboat when tankers have passed by. Took a couple over the bow of the jetboat, and got caught sideways the other time in the 30 footer. That was interesting!
