    Default Homer fishing?

I will be in Tutka Bay middle of July. While I typically head out for halibut when in Homer I will be staying at a cabin for 3 nights with grandkids this trip. Looking for info on kid friendly fishing in the area. Rockfish or salmon for jigging. Can also troll with downriggers. Not looking for your spot but rather any info about areas to try or stay away from. Kids are 6 and 3. Thanks in advance. Ken

You can do well all around the islands-Hesketh, Yukon just off shore in 60-100ft of water. Should be nice this weekend but you're close to the sheltered bay (as well as Sadie Cove) if you need to tuck in quickly for the kids.

    Default Homer fishing?

The whales are around the islands at the moment as well so even if the fishing is slow that's great entertainment. There are halibut in Tutka as well near the overhead power line. It's deep but they're there.

Nice. You know how to whet my appetite. How deep were they hanging around? I am so looking forward to this trip. Ken

This was in about 80ft with the fish at about 35. Brought 2 kings and 3 pinks in and fished about 4 hours

Bringing in one pink about 10 others came up to the boat to see what the fuss was about so there are a lot of pinks in Tutka right now. If you can go back to Tutka lagoon on high tide ( study the charts first to find the channel and avoid the rock at the entrance) you should. Swarming with hatchery pinks and a lot of fun snagging in there right now

Big schools of bright pinks off the beach in front of the cabin.
