Can't wait, have started by increasing decoys; 12 canada goose sillosocks, 12 canada goose silhouettes, skins for my baby mojo pair, 12 UV painted pintails, more blind grass material and a new mega jerk rig. Now to spend some time working on layout blind.

I'm relatively new at it. But gonna hit it full force this year. Got a new lab pup who just earned his Nahra started retriever title. Got a 18' jet boat. 12' Jon with 6hp mudbuddy. I have 12 mallard deeks.. I really just need a hunting partner. I've gone before jump shooting but nothing serious. But I hope to be living in the swamps all fall. If anyone in or around south central want to get together shoot me a pm

Attachment 89736 My pup Cutter coming on Back with a Mallard at last weekends NAHRA hunt test. This was his fourth ribbon, earning him a title. We just missed the Hunter Ribbon the next day. Mostly because of me. We still got all our ducks so in a hunting situation it would have been a win for me.

I missed this earlier, Matt. Congratulations and welcome to the hunting dog adventures many of us live for.

Time to get the decoys out and start getting the boat ready. I know the dog is ready to go, I took her out on the river fishing with me a few days ago and she was going nuts over the ducks flying up and down the river. She kept looking at the birds then looking at me like common shoot already. I tried to tell he about the seasons but I dont think she cared.

Not many ducks around here.. Hoping it picks up soon. Hunt hard and enjoy the time afield.

Still seeing plenty of Geese on the North Slope...Seems to be fewer ducks in the Deadhorse area this year. I agree with 0321Tony, it's time to get the new decoys ready (added 3 dozen more this year). Also going to attempt to add blind material to my Herters Goose Duck boat. And to get this all done before this season while still working on Slope and going for a 9 day caribou and moose hunt with my 17 year old Son. It is going to be a great year.

Got out and scouted another area. The area I'm gonna make my big trip out of. Saw lots of wigeons, mallards, gadwalls and teal, maybe other birds as well. Most were far away and hard to tell what they were. I think Ill be duck hunting the 2nd through the 5th. After that Ill probably have to stick with day trips to maintain the balance of work and play. been playing around with a roll up blind idea. Using PEX tubing and camo cloth. Its not super awesome yet so I wont share a pic until I think I have something. Got the dog out and hunting. We have bagged 5 grouse. He's getting the excitement toned down now. Got my stamps purchased... 300 rounds of shells...

Starting to dream about ducks! Looking forward to the first. Has anyone noticed if the flats are filling up yet? Stuck on the slope right now.
