    Default Ohhh Yeah !!!

    Glad to see the rain.
Fill them little quacker holes up with water.
The opener for ptarmigan and grouse is just a warm up.
The dogs are ready. Bring it on.
This year I plan to chase them all the way to the Mississippi delta.
That is, if the "big dog" allows it.

I have a 14 ft. Jon that I use. I thought about using my Sea Runner for Duck in Homer. I heard they have a good population of duck down there..

I'd love to get out and try it this year, just haven't really gotten the chance to figure out where to actually hunt.

Ehh...I'm sure I'll have time after I relieve all this stress about what hunting permits I'm not going to win

Ya'll are killing me.Im over dying to get out there bird hunting myself.Have any of you out of Homer,Seward,Valdez or Anchorage area shoot and Sea ducks yet? Like Old Squaws,Eiders etc? I need one or two for my collection Well I might need more birds than that but those will be a good start.Daniel

    Default T minus 38 days

I fly part time for a local air taxi. My recent flight was with a state bird counter. It's there job to take bird count surveys. Of course these counts are local bird counts. Just to see how productive certain areas are for nesting habitat. Small areas to large refuges have been 200 to 500 birds. Numbers are looking good. Lots of cranes this year and geese are numerous in specific areas. A lot of the areas are having lower water levels this year unless it is fed by a tributary. The pond I hunted in last year is completely dry. Hopefully more rain will come, but if not I know of other places. The ponds near the coast will fill come the August 30 ft tides so that will draw them along the shore come the opener.
    Be safe.

If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck. Feed it no. 2's.
