    Default Montague Fishing

Dropped anchor off the Seward side of Montague at about 8:30 A.M. on Sunday. We fished for halibut there and picked up a few from 40 lbs. to bait size. Did a lot of drifting and jigging in about 70 feet of water with lighter rods and caught and released a bunch of small halibut. Only picked up one legal lingcod and one nice yellow eye. Took the grandkids to Pony Cove for silvers on Monday. After 2 days the species caught was halibut, lingcod, yellow eye, silvers, dusky rock fish, dog fish, Irish Lord, skates and one duck that through the hook. Lost a bearing on the trailer just out of Seward and parked the boat at a friends house. Thanks to my son-in-laws the boat is home now. Had sonar problems with my LCX 19C Lowrance. Watched one of the well known charter boat out fits run into someone's trailer, breaking the bunk. The owner of the damaged trailer now has all the info. What the heck. We caught some fish and made it home safe. I will probably head to Homer next.
