I know some of you are fishing rainbows on the Middle. Maybe floating the Upper. I'm on the slope and was hoping for some vicarious living. So let's hear how it was!

Fished the Russian on opener. Got into 4 little guys 12" and smaller. Still trying to learn that river, but was good to get back looking for trout.

Anyone want to get together and show a new guy the ropes. At the moment I only have a 5wt but have a 7wt that will be here the 20th. My fly selection is pretty much non-existing though. I haven't fished for rainbows in a long time and I miss it.

For the 7th year in a row, I went out West for the Bristol Bay opener and fished the spraypole for trout on the swing.

Did very well this year, including this 30.5" that smashed a sculpin.

I did not fish the opener but a friend fished Sat, Sun and Monday. He said the middle was very crowded on Sat and just as crowded on Sunday without guides. He said they caught quite a few fish on Sat, but nothing over 18". Only 3 fish on Sunday and I can't remember what he said he caught Monday. The water looked high to me when I drove by the bridge at Cooper Landing and again at Soldotna.

Tom is good, Donny is good too, things are going well for them.

I will be back up there in September when my guide season is over.
