    Default Steel Gong Target

Anyone know of anyone in the FBX area that sells or makes them? I need a couple that will handle a magnum caliber rifle.

These guys have really expanded in the Anchorage area this year. Looks like they have a Fairbanks dealer.

I've bought a number off of eBay very reasonably, just make sure of what you are getting. Mine are all AR500 " thick, and I've whacked them up to .338WM with no problems... even the green tipped 62gr 5.56 doesn't leave a mark. If you look around there are a number that even do free shipping (yes, even to AK). I got a 2/3 IDPA torso that weighs in at 46# - free shipping.

I know a guy in Eagle River who makes some good ones out of AR500 plate.
He even warranties them if you bring them back to him for a broken weld etc.
    Makes several styles and sizes.
And he is actually cheaper than most out of state manufacturers.
He spent 30 years in the Army Rangers and recently retired from it.
PM me for his contact info.

No, no steel at Maud range.

Check Amazon for steel gongs. I found them a while back and picked up several. They were cheaper than I can buy the raw AR500 steel here in Wasilla. Shipping was reasonable too, came in a USPS flat rate box.

You can at the USSA range near Talkeetna.

Need to have the RSO inspect them prior to use.

The snowshoe gun club on the peninsula allows steel targets also.
There is a steel gong hanging there now at the 1,000 yard mark at the main rifle range.
And another at the smaller 230yard rifle range.
But you usually need to bring your own.

Did they move it? I thought they had the gong at 500 and don't even remember one at 230. But I really haven't been there often enough to remember for sure I think.....

The rifle range is now out to 1,000 yards as of this spring.
The gong at 230 yards is on one of the smaller rifle ranges.
There is now a 130 yard and 230 yard smaller rifle ranges at the end of the pistol ranges right next to the black powder only range.
They have been making some nice changes out there lately.
