    Default Montague run June 4th

Planning on making the run to the southern end of the island, leaving out of Whittier weather permitting. Any other boats want to make the run?

Just missed your timing. I'll be making the run June 1 & 2 weather permitting. We'll be in Seward for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th but will be heading out to the Aialik area and further (again with good weather). I think that on the 1st/2nd we will be focusing more on Bainbridge and Latouche areas than actually montie.

We'll fish all day the 4th and head back towards Whitter that evening. Recommedations on coves to drop hook in that general area? Was thinking of Shelter or Sawmill.

I'm planning on heading out the evening of the 3 and staying out till Sunday Evening. South end gave up 3 kings and we found some halibut last year same weekend. I have spent many nights in Mcloud Harbor on the South end of Montague. If it's blowing out of the SW some swell can get in. Stayed there twice last year.

If you are heading to the south end, Anchor up in Mcloud Harbor. It's a really nice spot. You can get near the head of the bay and get a good hook set then enjoy lots of sea lions running the shoreline and the Humpbacks come in to play quite often too.

You guys ever find any Kings a little west of there - say bottom of Bainbridge or latouche? I don't plan to go out all the extra miles to the bottom of Montegue for em....

Bottom of Bainbridge. Fished the coast just by the Twin Bays.

    Hi All,

I hope to make it to Montague on Saturday, weather permitting of course. I've never fished that far south but hope to find some halibut and maybe some kings. I upgraded to a Kingfisher 2425 Experience with an Evinrude Etec 225 last year and am just getting use to the range. Prior to this boat I had an older fiberglass inboard that I wasn't comfortable traveling to far from port with. Running to Montague is a bit out of my comfort zone even with a newer boat but am glad to see there will be some traffic there to ease my mind. Good luck!

Well my plans have changed given the current forecast. I'm headed to Homer tomorrow. Looks pretty lumpy on the outside.

Forecast looks too rough to fish outer coast this weekend. Things change but... Forecast for Saturday; Cape Suckling to Cape Cleare is SE 25knts. Cape Clear to Gore Point is still showing Variable 10 through Saturday night. Even though the Gore Point forecast is that good I bet there will be a nice swell running into Montague coast. Scraping my plans for the trip this weekend. But things change...,

Ended up in Homer, got some prehistoric sized black rockfish, a limit of smallish halibut. Lost a nice king out by Flat. Super nice water, really enjoy spending the weekend in Seldovia. Just such a long drag to and from.
