Do you have any baitem907 products?
Throw in one of their hanging scent products or other items and then you'll be ready.

herring oil on bait entrails in a cloth bag hung high. Both blacks and browns wanted nothing to do with it.

the bears where we hunt are VERY picky honestly.. pickier than the bears in the Anchorage Zoo.. It may have to do with the fact that there are zero fish streams for quite a ways where the station was. You can always run 2 barrels and try it on one and sweet stuff on the other and see which gets hammered.

Ya I'll have to mix it up and see what happens. I'll run salmon oil on one as well and see what clicks....I'm guessing mostly grizz in this area.

Actually to discuss "picky bears" we set a station last week.. 2 barrels 1 was full of cake, donuts, pies (sweet potato pie to be exact), some dog food and molasses and bread with some dog food. Barrel #2.. 150lbs dog food, 80lbs sweet feed with molasses, another 5 gallons of molasses. Barrel #1 .. Hammered (was full last Friday checked yesterday and was 1/8th full).. Barrel #2 the bears ate off of but not much.. only reason I could tell they ate some sweet feed was a small amount of grain in the scat at the station (several piles)... but it was still nearly full. I am a firm believer in fixating on their sweet tooth.. once they are accustomed you can back off a bit on the pies and cakes and just go heavy on molasses and dog food.

We had lots of browns (several sows with cubs as well) but also a fair amount of blackies. It seemed to be the general rule of thumb that both colors agreed they liked the non fish version better haha. Please let us know though how your trial turns out. I have heard of a few people using fermented fish entrails in a bucket and having great results (hung well out of reach but used as a scent attractant).

It is a blast honestly. I consider checking the station like scratching a lotto ticket... the drive there you get the first 7 of the ticket.. getting to the station seeing its been hit is the 2nd 7 then watching that bear walk in and dropping the hammer and you punch that final 7 on your ticket to claim your grand prize. Love hate relationship though.. I love it.. my wife hates the fact that once the season starts we buy more dog food than most pounds, more sugar products than a ADHD relapse convention and I wouldn't change a thing about it.

That right there would put the kibosh on any bear baiting activities I might be considering......

    Scent: try James valley knockout
I don't use fish as we eat our bears. Maybe fish make their coats shinier?
fermented poultry and poultry guts work well also.
