    Default Beams?

Where at in anchorage should I shop beams? I am building a deck and will need a couple beams that are 16' x 10" x 4".

Treated 4x10x16's are easy to get from SBS. Far easier, and likely cheaper than a build up beam.

Uresco on south old Seward (below Huffman) and Hultquist homes (building material department) have those items available.

Built ups are a nice way to go if you need beams longer than 20'....easy to build in place, and stronger than solid beams if the joints are staggered....cover the top edge with vycor to keep water out

Builders Choice is who I use for all my building projects. They are quite a bit cheaper than SBS (sometimes almost 50% cheaper). You can get beams up to 24', I just priced some for a shed I'm building next month.

Not quite sure on the Anchorage location but in Wasilla and Soldotna they do so I would imagine they do in Anchorage as well. They even have their own truss plant which is way cheaper than SBS.
