TheMatanuska-Susitna Borough has (2) campgroundsand (1) sports fields complex in need of Park Hosts.Alcantra OutdoorRecreation Facility - is located in Wasilla, AK. This is a heavily usedsoccer and little league baseball/softball field complex. The RV parking areahas wonderful views of the mountains. Water and electricity will be available.RV septic pumping is available off-site. A non-motorized trail system runsthrough the complex. No camping fees are collected. The primary responsibilitywill be to provide a physical presence on the property during the week-ends andin the late evenings, when the fields are not in use by organized groups, todiscourage vandalism. Additional duties listed below.Matanuska RiverPark- is located at mile 17 on the Old Glenn Highway in Palmer, Alaska. This parkneeds two Park Hosts who will alternate overseeing the tent and RV campgroundfor 3 or 4 days each per week. The Park Hosts will coordinate their schedulesto ensure that one host is onsite at all times. Each Park Host must have theirown RV as living accommodations. Electricity, water, and sewer are provided. (*NoteFriday - Monday coverage required.)Talkeetna RiverParkis located in the small rural community of Talkeetna, AK. Talkeetna is apopular tourist destination, with over 100,000 tourist and recreationenthusiast visiting the community during the summer. Talkeetna River Park is asmall tent camping area at the edge of town. The host will need their ownRV.We will provide electricity.Camper fees will need to be collected, trashpick-up, restroom facilities cleaned daily and re-stocked. Additional dutieslisted below.Requirements: Applicantsmust pass a background check and be at least 18 years of age. They must be ableto safely lift up to 50 lbs. or at times heavier loads with assistance.The applicant must be outgoing, courteous,and helpful to all park visitors. The applicant must provide their ownfunctional recreational vehicle for living accommodations.Tents are not allowed by the campground host.Duties: Greet visitors and collect fees from campgroundpatrons. Keep trash cans emptied, cleanrestrooms, replace supplies, keep camping spaces clean after eachpatron's use, and perform other light duties as needed. Oversee the park toensure it is clean and safe, and that visitors follow rules. Park must bemonitored at all times. Contact authorities if laws are broken and reportdamage and vandalism to Park Staff promptly. Follow all safety instructions,hazardous materials disposal, etc.Stipend: Park Hostsreceive a $10.00 per day stipend. Timetable:Depending onspring weather conditions, we will open between mid May to just before theMemorial Day weekend and we close after Labor Day weekend.ApplicationProcess:Pleasecontact the Parks Offices at or 907-745-9690.
