    Default New Garden

I bought a house last summer that had an existing 30' x 50' garden. The garden was full of small birch/spruce trees with trunks up to an inch or so. I cut down all the trees and I plan on renting a tiller to get up all the roots and other parts. A few questions. Will a tiller be able to handle this or should I dig up the bigger roots with a shovel? After it is tilled, do I need to remove the remnants? Thanks for any advice.

Putting a tiller into that is going to be a rough ride.Take a pick and pry them out with it.Should have pulled them and not cut them off. After you pull out the main part you should be ok with the tiller. You will still have to hand pull the roots as they come to the top during tilling.
