Thread: Goat chest size?

    Default Goat chest size?

While I realize the chest size will look different with varying hair length, what do those of you who have hunted goats figure the typical adult goats chest depth would be. I am going on my first goat hunt this fall with my daughter and we are both counting the days. Thanks, Tony

I expected when I said chest that I would get a answer like that- Thanks for the humor. I am more interested from the top af the hairline to the bottom of the hairline behind the shoulders. 44 however does sound like I might need a bigger gun.

According to the attached link to Chuck Hawks' website, the chest depth (backbone to brisket) of a mountain goat is about 22"-24". It also lists chest depths for a number of other common big game animals, which are very useful when estimating range with mil dot or Boone & Crockett type reicals.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,
