    Default .300 win mag velocities

I'm curious as to what kind of velocities you guys are getting out of your .300's.
I'm loading :65-66.5 gr IMR 4831, 200 gr Barnes TSX bullet, COAL 3.300 (measured at the tip of the bullet).
66.5 gr of this powder is max load according to Barnes. For my loads I'm seeing a low of 2687 to a high of 2743 fps. The loads 2ea were stepped up in .5 grn incraments. Does this seem low to you or right on the money. I'll post pics.

The pattern I'm seeing is different powders. Interesting my Barnes load book only goes to 66.5 gr of powder but you're using 71 grns.

Ok, I'm right on the money according to Barnes manual #4, I see the online data is different.

Careful. If you're talking about AK375HH he appears to be using 3000mr rather than the 4831 you're using. A whole different beast, as is the rl22 being used by peaceman. I hope you don't think the variety of powder doesn't make a difference in the charge size you can safely use! That kind of mistake is a sure path to the repair shops- whether to repair your body or your rifle.

BTW- I never found IMR-4831 to be that good a powder in the 300.

And yeah, you'll find different maxes from different sources. That's because each and every rifle is different and likely to have a different max safe load and pressure.

Yup I completely understand. Thanks for the warning, I am new to this and would rather learn from others mistakes and error on the side of not blowing chit up.

I could have provided more info. 73.0 gr of Rl-22 from a tikka with the 24" barrel. 1/2 moa load
The accubonds were out of a ruger #1 with 26'' barrel and 69 grains of H4831. - 1 moa load

I'm going to play with H1000 and see where that goes.
