    Default "No Excuses" in Valdez

In 1998 we took a halibut charter from Valdez on the boat "No Excuses". At that time it was captained by Wally Turner. We had a great time with great fishing. We plan to make our third trip to AK next year and I see that there is still a boat in Valdez named "No Excuses" but captained by someone other than Wally Turner. Is this the same boat that we chartered in 1998. The No Excuses we chartered in 1998 was 32' all aluminum craft that was very fast at the time as I recall. Thanks for any info.

http://www.easyfreezeinc.com/reservations.htm might be worth it to call these people, and at least ask the questions, they have always done right by me in Valdez. They have seem to become a good focal point for information.

    Default No Excuses

The No Excuses is now captained by Dave Bruss. I don't think anyone will argue that Dave is one of, and probably THE best halibut fisherman around. Prior to the No Excuses he ran the Swee'Pea. I would be he's booked for the season.

    Default No Excuses for Dave

Dave is one of, if not the best Captains in Valdez. You will not be disappointed.

    Default fishing Valdez

We are renting a boat in Valdez and would like to know if they catch Halibut close by, we are renting a 18' boat and do not want to travel far.

Will the silvers be in around Aug 8th??

    Default When they get here

The silvers will be here when they get here. Right now the pinks are pouring in. I would certainly think that you should be able to get silvers. You may have to go to Middle Rock but they should be reachable.

Does the No Excuses charter have a website? I googled it every which way but loose, and browsed the Vadez tourist websites with no results.

Does anyone have a contact email or number for Dave Bruss? We are long time friends who have lost connections thru the year. If anyone knows him please pass this on to him.

    Thanks

Last I heard he took a job working up on the slope. He did not go out last year as far as I know.

Dave Bruss quit captaining the no excuses at the end of the 2011 halibut season. He is now working on the slope. I fish Valdez several times throughout the summer and since Bruss is no longer operating, I would very much recommend that you call Dave Wiley of Orion Charters. He is also an excellent skipper and with the absence of Bruss I would say there is no question that Wiley is the best captain in Valdez if you are looking for big halibut.

I filmed a couple deer hunting episodes with Dave Bruss. Couldn't think of a nicer guy to be in the field with.
