Default Windows 10 upgrade ate my photo programs

I installed windows 10 in an attempt top get rid of the problems with windows 8. Well the upgrade ate half my photos. ( over 2,000 ) Now I no longer have a program to download pics from a camera flash drive or from my scanner. Anyone have any suggestions of a good simple photo program that allows editing???

I wish it was still that simple, Macs are getting harder and harder to use. iPhoto is now Photos, and groups imports and things differently, like by the photo date instead of by when you imported it. I am trying to figure out how to manage a good Photos master library on an external drive. Adobe Photoshop Elements is great for more advanced editing, but has some simple touchup buttons too, not sure how it is at organizing, but I may abandon Photos and try it. Back up photos often, preferrably on two seperate hard drives.

I just spent 3 hours downloading a photo editing program called PIXLR that still does not let me import photos from a camera or flash drive. What a friggin waste of time. I tried the windows version of I photo and it will not open on my computer with windows 10. I really hate computers.

I have used Photoshop Elements for a number of years and it is very good at organizing many different ways, and makes it easy to find a photo many years later.

I like Picasa, free download. Used it for many years.
