Default Your well water after the quake

Mine is still clearing up a week later. I wasn't home most of that week so it wasn't being used, but when I first turn it on after sitting, it comes out almost black. Bad smell. it does clear up, but takes a while. This is a 126 foot well. My well at my shop 2 blocks away (145' deep) is clear. Neighbor says his well is fine. I believe his is a few feet shallower than mine.

180' cleared in a day. Just clay in the water no black or stink.

Try running it through a coffee filter and see if you can identify the reside.

Good tip. The stuff is so dark. Looks like charcoal. Doesn't feel grainy like sand.

My water is still a little gray in the morning when I first turn it on. Much better than a few days ago when it was the color of a dark, angry storm cloud.
