    Default Size Lead for PWS

First trip to PWS out of Whittier and was wondering what size weights to people use, used 12 -14 oz in Ketchikan when I fished there but when I went on a charter out of deep creek I think it was 3 lbs. Have to pick up some gear, a friend just got a new boat and we are going out on Sunday and wondering what to get to get to the bottom and stay there. For this trip we will be staying close to Whittier so if any one has recomendations for first trip areas and weights for the bottom thank you

    Default 1lb

I find that the 1 pounders work best for me. If I need more as the tide picks up I add another pound. Nothing like deep creek.

I would have to agree with Steve to a point. I would use about a pound to start but rather than add another pound I'd change the weight to maybe 20 or 24 oz, then again, I'm lazy and don't want to reel in anymore weight than I have to. It seems like the tides are typically half what you would see out of Homer.

    Default take a variety

the tides are generally alot mellower and you can get by with 12 or16 oz alot of places, but if you are in any narrow channels in between islands for example the tide can rip through those ares pretty well.

I get by on 1 or 2 pound weights, but I drift and don't anchor.
