Thread: Interior wheelhouse insulation

    Default Interior wheelhouse insulation

Friends of mine just installed some kind of flexible refrigeration insulation onto the ceiling of their aluminum boat. Tryin to get a pic from them but the description is it comes in a roll 1/2" or 3/4" thick, applies with 3M spray adhesive and is impervious to moisture. Anyway does anyone have a clue about this stuff and where I can get it here in Anc? I'll call Alaska Insulation Supply next week and see what they have.
They're out trolling for kings as we speak and with just that stuff up in the ceiling they gotta crack open the door and Espar d2 is toned down and in t shirts.
The Hewes has a headliner in the ceiling so I can pull it and install flexible insulation up there and it all gets covered. I'm looking for a bit more warmth and think that's gonna do it without running the Espar on high all the time.

Is it different than that foil sandwiched bubble wrap stuff that's been around for 10 or more years? That product can be purchased at the lumber yard. Spenards, Home Depot, Lowes ect. If you find something new and better please let us know because I need some too!

I think it's more specialized specifically for refrigeration use; my pal made it sound pretty awesome without even insulating the walls or bulkheads yet.

Try calling here, Pat is a customer of mine and he has a nice black foam insulation that i used to line my engine box with to quiet down my John Deere. He's a boat guy so he will know what product will work best for you.

You guys da bomb! Yep AIS has AP Armaflex in sheets, various thickness. Sounds like exactly the product for insulating a boat. I'll pick some up next week and report back on how it works out.
