Default Where are the big bull Moose coming from?

Thought that title might hook a few! So here's the deal. A thread was recently posted in which some of us were wondering generally where a particular large bull came from. I thought it might be an interesting topic for discussion, but clearly most of us don't want to give out too many details of that kind. I think there's a couple of ways we could do this. Perhaps the least risky is to use the regional designators used by the ADF&G's division of Wildlife Conservation. You can find a discussion of those regions AT THIS LINK.

But because most of us don't know which GMUs or portions thereof go with which regions, we need some direction. HERE'S A LIST of each region, together with the units in that region, and the area biologist contact info for starters; Let's break it down here for those who don't want to read through that list:

    REGION 1
    GMUs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

    REGION 2
    GMUs 6, 7, 8, 14(C), 15

    REGION 3
    GMUs 12, 19, 20, 21, 24, 25, 26(B), 26(C)

    REGION 4
    GMUs 9, 10, 11, 13, 14(A), 14(B), 16, 17

    REGION 5
    GMUs 18, 22, 23, 26(A)

A few ground rules for this thread:

    1. Big bull moose only. For our purposes, the bull must measure 60" or wider to list here.

    2. Post the photo and the Region. Include measurements if you like, but it might be fun to let folks guess / estimate.

    3. Post the year the bull was taken.

    This should be fun...

Although that does look like a tasty bull, something tells me he doesn't quite meet the criteria for this thread. So Mike, what you are telling us is head to Regions 3 and 4 for the really big bulls?

Not at all. It's just that those are the areas where I have spent a lot of time. Some of my hunters have taken large bulls outside these areas, and some of them are members here. Thought I would hold off posting their photos in case they want to participate.

These are awesome moose guys!! Thank you for sharing each and every photo. My family has enjoyed eating the numerous moose that I was fortunate enough to harvest during the past thirty years, but I have yet to get one over 60"...so I've got no photo to add. Perhaps next year!

Holy Crap Dude!!! That's not a moose. That's an Irish Elk. What's the story? It looks familiar. I'm guessing 75" wide.
