    Had the exact same thing happen to the ship I was on in the Navy. Brake couldn't stop the chain and it tore the hell out of our anchor handling room. As we pulled back into 32nd st San Diego the other ships noticed we were missing an anchor and started blowing their whistles! Ha ha

    Seems crazy in this day and age to be lowering chain with little more than a screw driven friction brake...
