Default Denali Highway Trail report 11/20/2015

We received several more inches of snow in the last 48 hours. Expecting more over the next few days. Trail riding has been excellent. We are packing down the trails on Windy Creek, Valdez Creek and several others. We aren't hitting any rocks and snow packed on the trails is 8 to 12 inches. About 2 feet throughout the woods. Snow has been piling up North of MP 62 where we ride in the mountains since September. The snow that fell on the coffee shop up there never melted. If you are unfamiliar with the coffee shop, you'll have to come out riding and I'll show you!

The Highway riding in is excellent from Cantwell. Fast and fairly smooth. We have been pulling a drag back and forth from Cantwell. No gravel showing anywhere along that route.

They are doing work about 20 miles in putting some more rock where the Nenana is close to the road, so it is being plowed to that point, and the latest word is that the work will be complete around December 14th. So plan on driving to that point, or expect thin snow from Cantwell to that point.

The trail East is virtually untouched. A couple of mushers have been down there, but for the most part its all untouched snow! There is a lot more snow starting just a couple of miles East of us.

If you have any questions, give a call at 907-743-0565. Ask for Jennifer or I.

Claude, is there anywhere to park a trailer at the end of the plowed area? I'd hate to drag one in there and end up being in the way while out riding. Thoughts?

Thanks for the update. A couple of us were talking about making a run that direction before too much longer.

A few more inches of snow last night. On the road, they are plowing out a place to park past where the work is being done on Moose Flats, from what I understand. We have a sled dog race that we put on and already have 55 mushers signed up for December 5th, so it should be a sizable parking area that they said they would put in.

Nope, didn't get any rain, thankfully! Just 5 feet of snow over the last 10 days! Riding is becoming excellent as this stuff sets up. Going to be an epic winter! Boon docking is already great!

That's what I was hoping for. 5 feet, that's going to make an amazing base for spring riding. Can't wait until the forum ride this spring.
