    Default Yamaha 35/50 outboard

Purchased a boat with a 2006 Yamaha F50tlr with 35hp Kenai decals, owner (widow of original owner) did not know if it had been converted back to a 50hp. How do I tell if it has been converted? I've heard they restricted these 50's by changing throttle linkage??

The brain box of the motor also needs to be changed along with the linkage. At least thats what i had to do with mine, same year motor & brand.

Thanks, so it sounds like I will need to take it into a Yamaha dealer!

No its a easy swap, i did it all myself and that was after the 'expert" at Deweys told me what a highly technical job it was and i shouldn't attempt it! Yeah 4 bolts and a plug and the instructions were in the box for the 50hp brain box. Go over to the place on Spenard Rd and i bet they will have the part and will tell ya how easy it is to do it.

For the guy at Deweys maybe 4 bolts and a plug is a highly technical job. LOL

Don't forget the brain box is about $250 more than a whole new 50hp! Just kidding...
