    Default Campbell Airstrip

I've flown by and over Campbell airstrip hundreds of times but I've never seen an aircraft there. Does anyone know what its purpose and history is?

Kind of. It is currently BLM owned. Believe originally army air built it during WW2. I know prior to the formation of Alaska Fire Service (on Ft Wainwright). A hotshot crew and smoke jumpers where based out of there.

Currently various functions within the Anchorage Field Office, Alaska Interagency Dispatch office, and Cadastral Survey (I believe that there are still there, they may have moved) and AFS South Zone Fire Management work out of there. Blm owned aircraft occasionally operate from there (law enforcement 206/cub, a pc12, and various contract fix wing and helicopters).
