What part of the state is this? None of the lakes in Anchorage are hard yet...

IMG_3033[1].jpgIMG_3029[1].jpgGreat first ice trip for our crew, 11-20-15. this is a stocked Kenia peninsula lake, Ice was 11 inch thick, covered by 2-3 inch of snow. Fish were biting, we each iced our limits, with few slabbos mixed in Cant wait to go back. Cheers.

Couple hours on the ice with my boy. No real monsters but an awfully nice average!

Not bad. I personally like Arctic Char better than Rainbow Trout. Rainbow Trout is my least favorite fish to eat. I rarely ever eat a rainbow unless my wife and kids want to keep some to fry up. My wife really like the Arctic Char. It tastes similar to a Lake Trout. Lake Trout is actually one of my favorite fishes to eat. It's not as good as grayling and burbot, but better than rainbow and salmon in my opinion. I like salmon too, but we eat so much of it that it is nice to get some variety every now and then.

Man, I really like wild rainbows. The stockers are pretty flavorless, but despite some people frowning upon it, wild ones are pretty tasty on my plate.

Hard to beat a freshly bonked Kenai bow fried in bacon grease!

Nothing like some steelhead steaks on the grill! Just kidding. This is rainbow trout from a valley lake. Likely a stocker that had been in the lake for some time. It was mortally wounded and had to get the wood shampoo. It was delicious.

Wow DannerAK i have never seen a landlocked trout with meat red as that. Without the caption i would have mistaken it for a salmon for sure.

Just to put the thread back on track.... This was our total fish iced for 4 guys with 12 lines in 4 hours today.
One on a tip-up, my boy jigged one, and I lost one at the hole.
Better than a day inside, though!!,
