What do you mean? Was the harbor master talking about the ice in the harbor?

Yes, the ice. I have been watching the camera daily too. I worry more about the entrance than the harbor.

Well anyone who is around the harbor this weekend I would love a report on the ice in the harbor, around the slips, and the entrance as well. Try to decide plans for next weeks days off.

Used my prop wash to thaw the ice behind the boat. Made it out to score a beautiful fish. Weather looks to freeze me out for another week or so. Hope everyone gets out soon.

I'm 'Jonesin' for some of that action. Eating 'Reds' tonight. Pretty dang good, but I'm fresh out of Winter King.....and a day in Homer.

These coming temps are not making it look good for the future weeks. Glad to see a lot of boats making it out today on the camera as I sat at work.

We are going to attempt to get out on Friday even though the temps are dipping down. It should be interesting.

Looking at forecast there is no end in sight to low temps. I'm seeing zero and minus temps over the next ten days. Ridiculous. Guess I'm not really a winter king fisherman. I'm more of a cold fall day fisherman. Good on everyone that's getting out there and keep posting pics.

I was marking small feed schools close to the surface less than 25ft down. The fish we caught were on my shallowest baits. When I checked the bellies I found krill. I donít think Iíve ever seen krill in king stomaches before. Anybody see this before?

Ridiculous? It's just how Alaska used to always be. We just ain't used to it anymore. We've gotten spoiled for quite a few years now.

Krill is a staple for salmon, its how they get their flesh color. White kings do not process krill in the same fashion and that is the cause ofthe white flesh.

Had anyone been around the south side of F float? If so, how does the ice look? Hopefully not too solid. Iím docked up there and took vacation for a week starting Saturday to fish and crab.
Doesnít look like any smaller boats have been out this week, canít really blame anyone. But is anyone thinking of trying to fish this weekend?

Ice has cleared up quite bit the last few days from H float to the entrance. The westerly wind pulled the ice off the inside of the spit and the tide carried the loose stuff out of the harbor. Still some sizable pans and bergs but alot of open water really. Still pretty locked in from H to the load launch ramp, but a skimmed over trail does exist from the ramp to more open water. How thick it is, I dont know, but I can walk around my boat in JJ float area.
