After a couple of fun, short runs in the lower reaches of the Knik, I took a teenage family friend to the glacier. The run up was very easy. Never hit bottom and it was always easy to pick the main channel. Bumped bottom lightly on the way down after picking the wrong route. Nothing serious. Was a cloudy day but we really didn't get rained on. I felt like it was an easy run and a great river for a new boater to learn on. Easy river but you do have to pay attention and read the water and for most of the run, you are within walking distance of a road. We ate lunch at the glacier an then came back. I'm running an 18-ft Lowe with a 48-in beam with a 60/40 evinrude on the back. We launched from the Old Glenn bridge and it took approximately 1h 45min to 2 hours to make it to the glacier and almost exactly an hour to get back. We burned approximately 13 or 14 gallons. My DeLorme in reach said we averaged about 15 mph on the way up and about 22 mph on the way down. Had a great trip. I'll try to post some pictures - I always have trouble getting them to work on this forum.
