    Default DC001 Caribou hunt

uploadfromtaptalk1444161291827.jpguploadfromtaptalk1444161302239.jpgJust wanted to share a couple pics from my hunt. By far the hardest hunt I have ever been on. But I would do it again next week if I could. I'm from Kansas. I had never hunted this unit nor had I seen it before. Hunted for 7 straight days without seeing a caribou. Made the most of the opportunity when we spotted a herd. Wanted to say thanks for all the other posts about this unit and some of the individuals that gave me personal advice. It definitely helped me out.

I've done it and you're 100% correct when you say it's a hard one. I didn't get one. Congrats on a nice one.

Nice work. Definitely a tough hunt! Consider yourself accomplished because most people will never be able to say they got a DC001 caribou!

    Congrats.

Very nice! I think a lot of people put in for this hunt thinking it'll be a piece of cake- just drive down to the Kenai walk up a hill and shoot your animal. As you've discovered, that just ain't the case- those boys live up high, and it's more like sheep hunting than regular caribou hunting. Congrats- you earned that big boy!

    Congrats.
Interesting...... I killed a big bull up there on what was supposed to be the first day hike just to check out the area.
Sheep hunting...... the pain goes away, but the stupidity remains...!!!

Shot mine on the first day of a multi-day hunt too. Luck was on our side I guess.

    Right place, right time.

I'll admit that it was still a battle though. Tough haul-out in the terrain we were in.

Yeah, it even happens to me every once in awhile. But in the long run, I've known plenty of people that have been successful bringing bulls out of there....

That's awesome. There are some big ones in there for sure. Pretty country as well.
