    Default Weather

Just wondering on what everyone's opinion is about this weather and what it is doing to the duck hunting around Anchorage? Should it be better or worse? I am planning on going out tomorrow and Thursday rain or shine but just curious on what others thought?

Work has kept me from enjoying much duck hunting this year so I can't comment about birds around the flats or other areas.... But we have a small pond on our property that usually holds a few birds almost daily mid Sept to freeze up. This year there have been very few birds. No widgeon at all yet and just a few mallards here and there. Did see a young northern shovelor on the pond last week, which was really weird.

Good show. One group decoyed in 1 hour. Lots of activity. Saw first pair of swans fly by. Also saw a huge flock of white and black geese. Not sure what they were

I went out this morning and saw a lot of birds flying around. I only ended up with 3, just couldn't get them to come over to me. Planning on going back tomorrow and setting up in a different place. Also saw tons of snow geese but they wanted nothing to do with me.

I have heard of northern birds trickling in. I suspect more coming in tomorrow with the clear weather. Their going to be hungry and tired. Should decoy well. Hopefully the weekend weather will keep them around for a while.

I hope I am going back tomorrow morning. Possibly will be my last day hunting for the year so hopefully the birds will still be flying!!
