Took a ride upriver a few days back.
Saw maybe 500+ Bulls just above Kipaloot, above Kiana. We went up for a boatload of wood (go up, saw on the way down) and saw so many Caribou, we decided to overnight and whiled the darkness away cutting wood to smaller pieces, and then drinking coffee by the campfire.
First thing in the morning 200 caribou crossed after piling up on the far bank in the dark. We picked the best two out of 50 and gave e'm both a stab.
Went to shore and worked em in about 1/2 an hour and placed them atop the loaded woods and was home by 2:45p
Just in time for my youngest daughters 10th birthday, and her favorite Heart and tongue soup was soon cooking
There was plenty for everyone.
One Bull had a very unusual front shovel the wife found might be handy as an artistic project. (personally, I think it could be a shot glass....)
Gonna top off the meat rack inna few days, get 'em while their "Hot"
