    Default Installing windows???

Hey everyone, I'm almost ready to install my windows in my 16x20 cabin in willow. I have 4 wood windows and 2 vinyl. I have a couple questions. Should I tyvek before I install windows? I'm guessing so. Also, is it necessary to wrap the opening with that sticky building paper?? Or is it alright to simple hoist it in, shim to fit, foam seal and be done? I Have 2 foot over hangs. Thanks!

It'll never get any easier than right now to add ice and water shield tape to the window edges.

I tyvek'd mine first, and used Grace's Ice and Water shield sticky tape to the edges of the framing. In mine, the rough openings were close enough that no shimming was required.

Except the bottom which really oughta be done before with a strip about 4" wider than the sill to waterproof the entire sill and up each side a ways and yhen fold the extra 4" down the front. And then patch the corners.

I usually just cut bituthene to fit for that piece.

Tyvek the whole place, then cut open the windows but leave enough to fold in the tyvek. Install the windows with screws and then grace ice and water on the exterior of the window to the tyvek. This provides air sealing. Then one the inside foam the gap between the window and the rough opening.
