    Default Removing old adhesive

I need to replace my anti slip tape on the gunnels. Anyone have a good method for getting the old adhesive goo off??

Assuming the tape is already off and you're talking about residual adhesive...acetone might do the trick. I also like a product called Goo Gone for something on more sensitive surfaces.

    WD-40 or Goof-Off work well.

Being careful not to use the same solvent used for the lay up on your composite/fiberglass gunwales? (If aluminum, no problem). Most adhesives use acetone, toluene, xylene, and Methyl Ethyl Ketone.

If aluminum, MEK is powerful and most likely to work, if base is fiberglass, start off with most gentle solvent.

Diesel works pretty good on the older adhesives.
