We plan to fly out to Lake Grosvenor and paddle to Brooks Camp after September 17. We are aware that there will be many bears and possibly strong winds on the lakes. We have heard and read warnings about the Savonovski river, such like many sweepers, high standing waves and other obstacles, also very fast running water. Is anybody here with more information?
We will travel in a inflatable canoe, a Grabner Adventure. Our river experience in Alaska: Beaver Creek, Alatna River, Koyukuk North- and Middle fork, Nonvianuk / Alagnak River. We also paddled a couple of years ago from Brooks Camp to Margot Creek and back, so we know the area and the problems on the lakes a little bit.
What do you think: Go or no go?
Thanks for any information.
