    Default Lewmar 700 parts needed

Well it looks like I've finally abused my windlass a little too much. I pulled it apart and can't see anything physically wrong with it though. Just grinds pretty bad. I cleaned it all up and not its works great in forward but turns a couple rotations then locks up in reverse (retrieve). Anyone have good knowledge of these or one for parts so I can tear it down again and see what gears might be messed up?

Drifting? Lol. I have an Edyne on the side. I'll use that until I get this POS working again. Good idea on looking up the manual and diagram. Duh.

Its easy to download. Forgot about the e-dyne. There's always the bouy method too.
    Good luck this weekend.

I had a similar problem last year and it was the pin hitting the strike plate and not retracting. I good squirt of white lithium grease around the pin solved the problem. Don't know if its that simple, just throwing it out there.

Ron can you explain more about what pin you are talking about?

Rob is it a pro series or a pro fish? I had my pro fish seize in a similar way. The threads on the shaft from the gears to the free fall thing seized. I played around and got it to where I could motor down and motor up. I contacted Lewmar for ideas on how to unthread the free fall from the gear shaft so I could order parts and while checking it appeared it was 1 month short of going out of warranty. I sent it to Miller and Miller in Seattle and Lemar replaced it. Got it back about a week ago.

I can scan and send the parts blow up and other stuff if you have trouble finding it. Send me a PM if you need the info.

Thanks for the info. Mine is not the free fall model. It's just the standard one. After this weekend out fishing in gonna tear it down and see what's up. The diagram parts layout is a little confusing but hoping to find something obvious that's messed up. My first breakdown of it didn't reveal much other that nasty grease.

trailer rollers that screw into blocks of aluminum welded to the fordeck, just make sure to grease the shise out of the threaded holes. I bet if you do it you'll start a new trend and make windlass sales drop (and ED sales to go up hopefully)

Sorry Rob, I was referring to the Pro Fish free fall model. It has a pin that retracts when it hits the striker plate.

My lewmar pro fish started acting up today. Starts and sounds fine for about 2 seconds and then slows to a crawl grunting as it pops the breaker. Not sure if it's the contractor or the motor but guessing the motor. The gypsy and clutch all spin smoothly so it's something internal. No grinding at all though. Bleh! Had to pull with the buoy. I remember why I bought the anchor puller! Lol
