    Default Boulder Creek DCUA

Less than one month away from my DCUA hunt. I'm heading in w/ Golden Eagle on the 9th to an area Jim called Boulder Creek. I've talked w/ a couple guys on here about that area through PM. Just thought I would toss out the open forum post to see if anyone here has hunted that area, what I should expect, and photos of rams to keep me up at night. Haha. This is not my first sheep hunt, but it's my first time in that area. I would have scouted it, but since I'm flying in to an area I could not walk to... it kind of defeats the purpose.

Apparently, xc, there is a lot of info about various drawing hunts out there, but many are hanging on to that info to up their chances of success IF they ever draw the permit again. This is especially so with sheep draws.

The ram in my avatar pic was killed on a DS204 hunt off of Boulder creek in 2010.

I am a little confused, maybe it's just my ignorance. But I thought the hunt DS203 that opens August 10th was Non-Motorized only? How are you getting flown in by Golden Eagle? Only place I know you can fly into is the Charlie Boyd airstrip.

That's right... and CB airstrip is at the base of Boulder Creek area.

You should be correct, nc cortez. It is only the later hunt that allows mechanized and one can't fly in until after the end of the 1st hunt, as I understand it

Charlie Boyd strip is a few miles upriver from Boulder Creek. There are two other strips on the Johnson River that provide access to Boulder and Spur Creeks that one may access during DS203. Golden Eagle knows this area very will and will likely place hunters into all three.

I'm not sure of this, but I think you can also land a plane outside of the CUA and then hike in/out.

That is correct and why he can fly into Boulder creek, it's outside the CUA.

I'd take a closer look at a map. All of DS203 is within the CUA.

So what if he lands inside the TMA boundaries and walks to the DCUA? Or what if he flies into Anchorage and walks to the DCUA?

Classic! I think I'll plan on flying into Deadhorse and then walk into the DCUA... that way, I'm safe.
