    Default Kodiak September Halibut Charter

Two of us will be on Kodiak September 15th - 25th. Are there any charters that still go out for halibut this time of year? Who? Contact information?
    Thanks, Gary

Chazman does. Of at least did for us, a few years ago. Was willing to take a smaller group too - 3 or 4.

Your bigger concern usually around that time is if weather will allow. Give the captain a date range in which you will be there for them to work with and hope for the window. Also Kenny with Runnamuck charters is still typically running.

Yeah on the weather and a window for the trip. Kodiak usually gets its first big fall storm right around the fall equinox, and it can run for 3 or 4 days, then be rough for a period afterward. Mid-September the halibut are moving offshore and deeper for the most part, so longer runs and more exposure to weather in reaching them. Leave a little flex in your schedule so the charter can work around the weather, and you'll get your fish. Narrow it down to one zact day, and it's a crapshoot.

Had some of my best charters of the season after the rest of the pack called it for the season. We had good trips all the way till my last trip of the season, Dec 29th.
Life's to short for an ugly boat
