    Default Gulkana

Floated the GULKANA from Sourdough to the Bridge. Folks were catching Kings, we just got small fish. Low, skinny, rocky and slow. Today the headwinds pushed us up river. From Sailor's Pit to the Bridge was miserable. Hot too.

it is about 26 river miles and we tell our floaters to plan on 1 night and 2 reasonable days.

It took 4 days and 3 nights. We got started late, the water was very low, the wind was in my face, the sun was too hot, but the USAF kids had a good time.

Have you seen it this low? Can't imagine getting thru the canyon in a Cat on the upper river.

We started around 1500 on Tuesday. The water was low and slow. We also tried to fish for Kings on the way. The last day the wind blew us backwards in several spots. Got off the water Friday at 1600. We could have done a quicker trip but the kids wanted a nice booze cruise, and I let them set the pace.
