Got back from Chitina night before last, 132 fish. Had to work for them. Dipped from a boat. River dropped over a foot while we were there. Water level wasn't an issue for my river boat, but could be for some shore people I guess. Took almost twice as long as previous years and we moved around to different depths to catch small runs, but got our fish. Winds at times. All and all a pretty good trip. The bottom changes and the fish move some, there are fish there, you just have to find them. Early and late were best , but fish most the day. The size of fish was really all over the place, big and small males and females. The launch is the real problem for a boat, coming back in the water level was low enough that getting the boat back on the trailer wasn't hard but wasn't easy. That's Chitina for you and I wouldn't expect anything different.
