Default Johnson Pass trail - North to Bench Lake

Did Johnson Pass trail starting from north parking lot, rode to Bench Lake Saturday. Trail was in excellent shape, no puddles.

    Great pictures !

    How long it take &
What's the skill level of a ride?
Been wanting to try some of the mt trails but hard to get info on the skill level.

Did/tried a few above my skill level,
ended up walking/pushing the bike most of the way, it takes the fun out of it.

I find Kinkaid trails very comfortable/just right. This has up a notch for me. Had to walk some hills both ways. I am not good downhiller. If you have average skills, 90% should be no problem. Almost endo'd on steep downhill that included nice dip, luckily I was unclipped and just walked off bike. Other steep sections planned to walk. Took my 15 year old son and I almost 2 hours to get to Bench Lake. We stopped few times to admire scenery.

    Thanks
Sounds like most of it is doable.
Put it on my list for when my cycling BIL comes up,

I did the trails in Kepler lakes trails in the valley,
most were ridable for me, had to walk a few ,
the mosquitoes made me hurry, bug dope next time

Gonna go ride Eklutna lake soon.
Most is supposed to be easy.

Keep in mind that Johnson Pass will start to get overgrown around this time of year, so if you wait a while, it may be a bit thick getting through some sections unless a group goes in to maintain the trail. No idea if there are plans to brush out the trail or not. Seems like it happens most years, but no guarantee with the budgets the way they are these days.
