    Default fpg: fish per gallon

    Just wondering how we compared:

    15' boat with a 1999 2 stroke Yamaha 50hp jet

    • 30 hours on the meter over 8 days, which included shutting the motor off drifting and some eddy fishing
    • 60 gallons of gas
    • 266 fish

Not wanting to be picky for details. Shouldn't you add the fuel the truck used going and getting back home.

    Just asking

Well...technically, yes. I'm more concerned about the efficiency of the boat/motor combination.

    Ok - here you go:

21' Wooldridge with a 200 Optimax with 6 people on board (3 on the line dipping, 1 fish beater, 1 jester, & 1 driver):

Time: 8 hours (cutting off the motor & drifting continuously) over a 5 day period
    Gallons: 51 gallons of fuel
    Fish: 523 Reds & 21 Kings

    = 10.66 fpg

Hard to beat Birdridges FPG, with my Big Johnson we did 9.2 FPG.

Looks like my concerns have been confirmed. My gas-sucking 2-stroke is on the bottom of the list..

18' boat. 115 e tec. Burned 18 gal fishing the lower limit with 2 nets.
    100 fish.
So 5.55 fish per gallon in boat.
    Trip cost $80 boat gas
    $160 truck gas
    $250 food and beverage
    $150 ice and misc.
    total $640
    So $6.40 per fish
I am glad we only kept big fish.
