I'm gonna head out Saturday night. Got rocked hard in my 24 Seasport last Saturday off the South End. I left and went to Latouche by about 2:00. Forecast looks like there will be swells still on Saturday out there. I'm gonna try to make it to the bottoms of Prince of Wales Passage instead. Good luck, good fishing to u.

Yeah I see the swells. Like the looks of variable 10 on the outside though. The outside buoys are reading 6 footers now, so I think they'll be half that by tomorrow but that is me being the eternal optimist. I'll be bouncing around in a 24 seasport as well. Will see if the GF can hold it together for the trip to san juan. if not we'll probably fish the needle.

I am going out later this afternoon, and WX depending we'll be headed down toward Knight Island and Elrington. We may overnight in the Nellie Juan area first. If you want to meet up out there shoot me a PM. Good luck!

No name stenciled on the hull. 97' Seasport, black stripe, new 300 Suzuki. Vessel name "Bella Maris", I'll be on ch.16 usually if my VHF is on.

Great pic. We saw weather update friday afternoon and decided to head to homer. Got limits of halibut, 3 kings and a bunch of black rockfish yesterday. Great water, and a few less sea otters in seldovia bay.

You could get a couple close in - like Bettles. Saw quite a few in there last weekend and they weren't gun shy or boat shy. Port Chalmers has a pile of them too if you are down south.

My normal hunting spot has been around Unakwik the past couple years. It is extremely tough to shoot from the boat and be accurate. Moving boat and bobbing otter makes for low success rate, even on a flat calm day. What I do now is find good rock piles such as the ones South and North of Olsen Island, and take the dingy to the rock at low tide. Get a good rest, and wait for the sea rats to come in, which they always do. Another good spot is around outpost Island.

I'm planning on being around schooner rock around 4th of July. We may have to anchor up in Constantine and thin the heard a bit.

a 12 Ga with #4 birdshot works perfect for a moving boat and bobbing otter. We have been very successful using that method!

People still don't believe me on this, but I have two witnesses to confirm. I once shot an otter at about 15 yards with a 10 gauge. I tattooed him and watched him take off. It certainly hurt him, but we saw absolutely no blood in the water and he never surfaced again. Great thing about otters is they float when dead, unlike seals.

Headed for Deep Water Bay tonight. Anyone give us a shout if you are around that area. Plan on a bit of shrimping relaxing and then maybe a run for halibut tomorrow or Sunday. Knot Too Shabby......
