    Default Kenai reds 1st run

Hi, anyone been catching reds on the Kenai. I am down in Soldotna for a month or so for work. Hoping to catch some soon. Thanks.

Yeah it's definitely not going to be hot fishing but if you head to swift water down the road by Fred Meyers I have caught a few reds on the first run. It's slow but you will hook up. It's worth the try.

I hope not since the season doesn't open until the 11th. The original regulation book was printed incorrectly as opening on the 1st. ADN and F&G web site has published corrections.

Better re-read the regulations, Bill. It is only the Upper Kenai and Russian that are closed till June 11. The lower Kenai is open for reds and trout right now.

    Indeed.

I wonder how the Russian opener will fair...

Thanks, you are correct. I tried to read the regs but I'm not a lawyer

Better check your regulations again. The lower river is open to trout fishing year round. It is closed from 1 mile upstream from the lower Killey river until June 11. The regs are very confusing, but try to at least look at them before you post something that is incorrect.
