Default Black Bear Size on the Kenai NWR

I was curious if the black bears on the Kenai NWR are small, decent, or large? I am thinking about getting a permit next spring on the refuge. When I talked to some folks about it they asked if they're still small bears on the refuge.

Refuge or not, the Kenai is the Kenai. Just like anywhere else, no matter where you go you always have that chance to find a small one or a big one. The first one I killed was 5'.6" and the last one was 6'4". One of the biggest blackies I've ever seen was on the refuge in a pretty much inaccessible spot.
Sheep hunting...... the pain goes away, but the stupidity remains...!!!

I agree, I do wish he would use the private message feature. Now that spot is ruined. And that was my special honey'hole..........

There's every size of black bear in every place from SE AK to Coldfoot, Chicken to McGrath .
Every place holds up to 7' or even better. Just spend time in the woods, you'll eventually see 'em or maybe even get one....
I've seen 7' footers in places I'd figure I would and also in places I didn't think I would..
These folks that you talked to need to get out more...
