More crying and moaning about efforts to reduce the "only 3483 metric tons of halibut mortality" or in more common terms: 7,678,700 pounds of mainly small undersized fish. These figures assume, of course, that the by-catch is accurately recorded when the fishermen aren't being monitored.
Anyone know how many pounds of adult legal halibut the reported figures translates to?
And of course all this by-catch is never a contributor to the declining halibut population. NEVER!
