I've never fished in Alaska, been on the list, and finally booked a 3 day trip to Petersburg.
Would love a nice halibut or two and a couple of King Salmon.
What techniques and general locations would you suggest for a 3 day trip? It's like I'm a kid in a candy store and don't know whether I should go up a river, fish the narrows, the open, a stream, geez.
I will be self-guiding on resort provided skiff. I have solid small boat experience down in Southern California and Baja Mexico.
Your resort folks would have some of the best info to offer within range of the dock......although others here may have some info to share if willing.
Don't know if island Point Lodge is your destination or not but it's there in the Narrows and forumite- DLALLDER - has been there 2-3 times. He may have your best intel.
also, make sure you're up on the 2015 regs. Some King Salmon closures this year in Blind Slough area- the popular terminal fishery there.
Timing is everything for best chance at Kings.
Halibut will be found in either Sound north or south of the narrows.
good luck and report back.
Daniel (DLALLDER) posted his results to me in a PM if you're interested.
Tanner, I sent a PM to you.
