I question whether the bear was 4 years old, based upon it's size, but I don't know if the bears over there are different than our browns.

She is certainly very lucky to be alive.

Compared with our bears, the one in the pics looks to be a young 2 yo. However, 2 friends of mine went to Kamchatka a few years ago on a brown bear hunt. Both shot bears - both bears were SMALL. Both bears were unaccompanied by other bears, which would suggest that they were "adults". The guides considered them to be mature bears. Maybe Russian bears separate from their mothers earlier (?).

They also have to deal with tigers and leopard and some places three types of bears.

Don't forget the wolves, wild dogs and pigs that run in packs that will eat you. Over 90% of people can not have guns. A whole dead tiger will bring you $50,000U.S. right across the china border.

Actually I first saw the article here http://www.blic.rs/Slobodno-vreme/Ve...CE-FOTOGRAFIJE but figured if I wanted the larger audience to be able to read it I best find the source article.

Really? Can't really have a rouge bear wandering around that has now had a taste for human blood.

They usually do the same here if they can find it again......

Yeah no sht. I mean that's what was in the comments section of that article. As in, people were shocked/sad/surprised/outraged about killing a bear that mauled and buried a human lady.
